Dried Distillers Grains with Solubles (DDGS) is a co-product of ethanol production from grains. DDGS is produced after the starch in grains has been fermented and converted into ethanol. What remains is a mixture of protein, fiber, fat, and other nutrients. This mixture is dried to form DDGS. The "solubles" part of the name refers to the liquid portion of the distillation process, which contains additional nutrients and is often added back into the grains before drying.
When the source grain is rice, the resultant by-product is known as Rice DDGS. Importantly, rice is abundantly available in India and hence, India is one of the major producers of Rice DDGS.
